National College was established in 1996 AD by a group of experienced and dedicated academicians for providing quality and need based education in a highly congenial academic environment. The broad objective of the college is to prepare and mould students capable of catering to the future manpower needs of the country.
Right from the inception, National College has been striving for academic excellence towards overall personality development of students. With the growing needs for competent professionals in the country, National College has been offering need based academic programs namely Bachelor in Development Studies (BDevS) since 1999, Bachelor in Development Finance (BDFin) since 2006, and Bachelor of Social Sciences (BoSS) since 2013 with affiliation from Kathmandu University (KU).
Since 2002, already 520 students have graduated from this college. The college has started constructing its own building at Chandol near the Shankha Park of Kathmandu.
The college has a plan to expand its academic programs to the master level. Consultations are underway with the likeminded institutions within the country and abroad.
Infrastructure and Facilities
National College has its premise containing a highly congenial and academic environment with sufficient infrastructure and facilities, including Wi-Fi connection, spacious and equipped classrooms, well-furnished computer laboratory with an unlimited internet access and well resourced library. Classrooms are managed with digital facilities for enabling the faculties and students to enhance their pedagogical requirements. The college facilities also include a play ground, transport, hygienic canteen, parking areas among others.
Student diversity is a striking feature in the College, where students from different parts of the country mix up to learn and share. Diverse cultural background and schooling has been remarkable in learning the context of the country. Moreover, the diversity has been further enhanced with the presence of students from other countries. Presently, there are students from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.
Scholarships, Awards and Grants at National College

Meritorious and Topper Scholarships:
Meritorious Scholarships are awarded to the students securing higher score during admission, whereas Toppers Scholarships are awarded in each semester to those students, who secure highest grade in the semester.

Scholarships will be continued for the students maintaining their good academic records. For this, the students will have to apply in each year.
National College publishes three main periodicals, namely quarterly newsletter (DevNews), a bi-annual journal of development studies (Samriddhi), and an annual magazine (Dreams). The DevNews carries brief news articles on the academic and extracurricular activities, the Samriddhi publishes peer reviewed research articles, and Dreams includes literary articles.
